The plot thickens and the paint has been bought...

I think I've sussed out my problems with the blogsite access for editing, probably a lot to do with my old PC running Windows 2000, and not XP....
From now on, this will be my main site for this event instead of the MSN myspace one:

Went shopping for the "PINK" paint today, negotiated a 33% discount because its for charity.... "any other colour and I would have thought you were trying to pull a fast one"

The "before" pictures

Sorry not much to report on the bike front, maybe the weekend will give something, and i promised my worldwide webmaster friend some pics "bike before the paint" (don't get too excited nothing extravagant and exciting is coming, after all, its for a charity event!)

Earlier this week I had to telephone one of the charities' people to give them a gentle reminder to send out the registration form. Today's post brought registration form and info pack came from charity #2 & just the registration form from charity #1 (I guess they have a policy where they've got to check people out before they send a pack). Tonite I read the blurb, rules and regulations etc from charity #2 and filled in both registration forms, ready for tomorrow's return post.
Talked to a supplier this week about some merchandise to sell in addition to the sponsored rally. This looks promising so far, again no details until the deal is done. I may be wrong but it could end up pulling in most of the donations.

This is the beast ... before the facelift and preparations begin...

HERE WE GO! The story so far...

16th of January 2007

I like motorcycling, and on a work colleagues recommendation had a dabble in the 2006 RBR. see http://www.roundbritainrally.co.uk for details of the event.
My result 22/84 landmarks were visited, these netted 330 points and a bronze award.......like I said, "a dabble" considering the maximum score from visiting 84 landmarks is 1800 points which gains the 100% allrounder award.
OK 2007, will I enter it again? Answer YES......I enjoyed the 06 dabble so much it didn't really take much deciding.
What I have pondered over is how to give it a bit more purpose than just riding around the country enjoying myself......so i decided it might be good to do this as a charity fundraising activity.

Today , I telephoned my "first" choice charity and asked for them to send out their fundraiser advice/application pack, once I've got this and registered my activity then I'll report on here.
I've discussed with a technowizz friend who suggested running a blogthingymejig throughout the year. He suggested a blogsite that has capability of carrying adverts and links (possibilities of additional fund raising sources/benefits).

JG's RoundBritainRally 2007 preparation 2007 RBR entry application form and cheque posted today. Looked on Ebay for a luggage rack and small to medium sized top box but no joy, still plenty time (anybody want to donate one free of charge?)

This weekend: I've got to fit the panniers, engine bars and hand guards and 50% brighter H4 Xeon headlight bulb.I want all the bike prep work completing and charity fundraiser registration before it gets the sexy paint...

Saturdays Post didn't include the charity's "pack" and fundraiser registration form, so still waiting! KTM hand guards fitted, only a little fettling with a heat gun required to allow clutch cable routing Engine bars fitted, not that I expect to crash, but as its an unfaired bike I thought they may be used to carry small signage plates with stickers for the charity or business sponsers. The secondhand bars were bought cheap on Ebay, they came with no fittings so most of the time was spent modifying/extending the standard engine mounting nuts and bolts which they fix to. Got there in the end, another task to find material for the "signage plates" then take the whole lot off and give them a lick of paint.
Panniers offered up to the bike, that's all' it was enough to realise that I need to fit the luggage rack first (which I don't have yet).
I had to visit daughter, so took the bike, nothing bad to report, its a big Honda Commuter as they say "does what it says on the tin"
Tomorrow I'll talk to my IT-technophile friend and see how he's getting on with the other Webpage/blogsite job, be good if he's investigated the ad possibility more. It would mean I can approach suppliers for the remaining prep. Parts & service required, maybe negotiate discount, or free, or agreed sponsorship amount everytime their website is accessed from "our" link.
